This webinar is organized by WP2 which supports the NI4OS-Europe mission to guide the development of National Open Science Cloud Initiatives (NOSCIs) in the region.
A NOSCI is envisaged as a coalition of national organisations that have a prominent role and interest in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The main aim of NOSCI will be the promotion of synergies at national level, and the optimisation/articulation of their participation to European and global challenges in this field of OSC, including the EOSC. National initiatives are envisaged to play a prominent role in Member States and Associated Countries and facilitate EOSC governance.
The webinar is driven by the latest outputs of WP2 and the developments in the EOSC Association. It takes stock of D2.2 National OSC initiatives models which sets the framework, including pathways and tools for establishing NOSCIs, to showcase how the WP2 outputs can be effectively used by the NI4OS-Europe partners. Moreover, it recognises socio economic diversity and Open Science maturity of countries and brings upfront different examples of forthcoming or ongoing NOSCI efforts to highlight good examples per use case scenario. Finally, it updates on the EOSC Association and helps with creating a common understanding of NOSCIs role in that context/spectrum.
The agenda is as follows:
National Initiatives for Open Science in Europe – NI4OS-Europe aims to be a core contributor to the EOSC service portfolio, commit to EOSC governance and ensure inclusiveness at the European level for enabling global open science. The project supports the development and inclusion of the national Open Science Cloud initiatives in 15 Member States and Associated Countries in the EOSC governance. NI4OS-Europe aspires to instill within the community the EOSC philosophy and FAIR principles. It also provides technical and policy support for the on-boarding of service providers into EOSC.
